Rounding up all the biggest Spider-Man news of October
If you're new to the site: I usually make a piece rounding up the biggest Spider-Man rumors of the month. However, today is a little bit different in a good way. Too much news arose during October that this piece will be dedicated to breaking them all down. No reports or speculations - just exhilarating Spider-Man facts. So let's kick things off with the cherry on top of the cake, shall we?
Spider-Man 4 has an official release date and a director attached
It finally happened. After spending many months in the dark, we have official news about the wall-crawler's next adventure on the big screen. Spider-Man 4 will be released on July 24, 2026, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will be behind the director's chair.
While Spider-Man's trilogy on the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't stood out for having iconic swinging sequences or mind-blowing action set pieces (such as the train scene in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2), all of that could change with the arrival of Destin Daniel. As if that wasn't exciting enough, Tom Holland also teased the script is "excellent" even if it still needs a bit of work. It looks like all the pieces are falling into place for another memorable chapter in the wall-crawler's history.
Granted, fans are worried the movie could focus more on the multiverse itself than Peter Parker. But even if it's still unknown what type of story awaits us, it's important to remember shooting will start in the summer of 2025. That means we'll learn a bit more when that date finally comes.

Our first look at Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir is here and it's breath-taking
Multiple exciting Spider-Man projects are coming over the next few years, which makes it difficult to pick a favorite. However, I'd be lying if I said MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video's Spider-Man Noir isn't up there, especially after the reveal of the wall-crawler's suit. It seems audiences are in for a faithful adaptation of this violent version of the wall-crawler.
Getting to witness the first live-action Spidey series since 1978 is nothing short of exciting. Furthermore, the project won't tie into the greater MCU, meaning there aren't any narrative constraints in place. Just a proper, street-level Spider-Man adventure, which is what fans have been asking for quite some time now.
Spider-Man Noir's suit feels pulled straight out of comic book pages. It has all the distinctive features we've come to expect from it, including the rounded goggles, the distinctive fedora, and the large leather coat. The attention to detail is immaculate, and we can't wait to see if that will apply to the rest of the series as well.

The first fooage for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was released
Talk about long overdue. After a complete rework of the series and a few delays, we finally have our first look at Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Now, let's not get too excited - the footage shown was but just a small glimpse of what's to come. But hey, it's better than nothing.
Fortunately, it won't be long before we witness Spider-Man's next adventure on the MCU. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on January 29, 2025, which is less than three months away at the time of writing this. Better yet; rumors claim the first official trailer could be available for everyone to see really soon. D23 Brazil will take place from November 8 to 10, and it will reportedly unveil more of the animated project.
Much like Spider-Man Noir, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has complete creative freedom to tell any story without it having major repercussions in the MCU. These "isolated" narratives could allow for greater risks and even bigger payoffs. So fingers crossed they take us all by surprise.

[SPOILER] makes an appearance in Venom: The Last Dance
Love it or hate it, Venom: The Last Dance was a very important movie in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Not only it was the last movie in the Lethal Protector's saga, but it also introduced Knull to the big screen. Furthermore, it also set up a very important Spider-Man character to take over the spotlight in the future. Warning: Spoilers will follow for Venom: The Last Dance.
Eugene "Flash" Thompson was hiding in plain sight during the third act of Sony's latest movie. Audiences witnessed how a soldier by the last name "Thomspon" lost his legs to a Xenophage before being saved by Rex Strickland. So now that Venom is out of the picture (or at least that's what the movie implies) perhaps it's the perfect time to introduce Agent Venom as the next character to face Knull.
Currently, it's unknown what the future has in store for the symbiotes. However, one thing's for certain: we haven't seen the last of them on the big screen, and Flash Thomspon could prove to be the key.

The opening of Kraven the Hunter had people impressed
It would be fair to say people don't expect a lot from Sony's Spider-Man movies (maybe with the exception of Venom). Morbius and Madame Web were underwhelming, to say the least, and they didn't break records at the box office. However, the streak of bad projects could end really soon if everything we've heard about Kraven the Hunter turns out to be true.
Members who attended New York Comic Con had the chance to watch the seven opening minutes of Sergei Kravinoff's stand-alone movie. Reactions were extremely positive, with some saying it's one of the most violent Marvel movies made (if not the most violent). Action sequences reportedly have a John-Wick-esque style as the world's greatest hunter takes down multiple goons on his own. Furthermore, director J. C. Chandor teased other Marvel characters will make an appearance as well.
We know Rhino and the Chameleon will have a role to play in Kraven the Hunter. However, it remains to be seen if other iconic Spider-Man characters could show up as well. Fortunately, we'll be able to find all the answers on December 13, 2024.

The Carnage and Venom symbiotes find shocking new hosts
We all know how the story (usually) goes. An offspring of the Venom symbiote attached to serial killer Cletus Kasady to create an unhinged and deranged monster in the form of Carnage. On the other hand, Eddie Brock teamed up with an alien to protect the innocent, fight for the little guy, and occasionally hunt Spider-Man. However, what if these iconic pairings were to undergo a major change going forward?
After the events of Venom War, the Venom symbiote will find a new host either in Rick Jones, Robbie Robertson, Madame Masque, or Luke Cage (though readers seem to agree it will be the latter). This all-new version of Venom will be an "honest-to-goodness" superhero instead of a lethal protector. Besides, the character will return to street-level stories after having many cosmical adventures. It will be a nice change of pace, and we can't wait to see how it all unfolds when All New Venom releases on December 04, 2024. (You can check the full story here)
Furthermore, Eddie Brock will still bond with a symbiote... just, not the one he's used to by any means. What will happen when Carnage asks its new host, Eddie, to feed on lives? Who will they hunt? Well, there's only one way to find out. Eddie Brock: Carnage #1 releases on February 2025. (You can read the full story here)
An unused gameplay mechanic was discovered in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
It's been officially more than a year since the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and yet it seems we're just scratching the surface when it comes to discovering its unused content.
Recently it was discovered the game was intended to feature double takedowns, but the mechanic was likely scratched due to time constraints. After all, the video shows there was a lot of jittering on some animations, so more time was needed to completely polish them. It's unfortunate to know this is just one entry in a long list of unused content. It really begs the question of how the game would've turned out with a little more time.
Now that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is officially coming to PC, chances are data miners will find a lot of undiscovered secrets. And when that happens, we'll be sure to break it all down here in Whatever A Spider Can!
