During a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, Venom: The Last Dance introduced this huge Spider-Man character much to fans' shock.

It has been a long wait, but Venom: The Last Dance is finally here to close out the Lethal Protector's saga. However, even if it acts as the "closing chapter" in Eddie's story, it also has many "loose ends" that will be followed up in future Sony Spider-Man projects. The biggest and most obvious is the King in Black himself, Knull. The god of symbiotes is rumored to return as early as the MCU's Spider-Man 4. However, another important character was being set up in the background of the movie, and he could've gone easily unnoticed.

Before we begin be warned: The will be mild spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance below

Flash Thompson made a cameo in Venom: The Last Dance

During the third act of Venom: The Last Dance, we see multiple Xenophages invade Area 55 in an attempt to hunt Venom and his codex. To defeat them, Eddie teams up with Rex Strickland and sets up a trap; while the former guides the alien monsters on top of amo cages, the latter orders his soldiers to shoot them. The plan works to perfection and a big explosion is triggered. However, just when one of Strickland's men says the targets are down, one Xenophage emerges from the smoke cloud and eats both legs of the soldier. Fortunately, he's able to survive the dreadful encounter, and audiences learn along the way his last name is "Thompson".

Where else have we seen another Thompson who loses both legs in a Venom-related story while being a soldier? That's right, in comic book pages courtesy of Peter Parker's bully and Spider-Man's biggest fan: Eugene "Flash" Thompson. It's widely known Flash eventually bonds with the Venom symbiote under the orders of the government and turns into a superhero called Agent Venom. Interestingly enough, we might see him steal the spotlight on the big screen in the form of a stand-alone project.

During Sony's panel at New York Comic Con, Venom: The Last Dance director Kelly Marcel revealed the movie would have a few easter eggs hinting where the symbiote's story could be followed up now that Knull is on the horizon:

"The arc for Venom and Eddie closes here but, as you know, there are a lot of symbiote stories in the canon, so there are lots of places to go and maybe there are a few easter eggs in here that might start that journey off."

With that in mind, it seems like an Agent Venom movie could be a real possibility. After all, Knull's story is just starting, meaning we need new heroes to rise up and fight him now that The Lethal Protector is (supposedly) out of the picture. Speaking of which, it seems Juno Temple
's character - Dr. Payne - could be among the ones to face the King in Black as well. So the biggest question right now is: will any of these characters cross paths with Tom Holland's Peter Parker? Or is Sony going to keep doing its own isolated thing? Hopefully, it won't be long before we finally learn about what the future holds for these Spider-Man characters.
