There are many reasons why we love Insomniac's Spider-Man video game saga. It's the perfect mix of world-class gameplay along with some of the best Spider-Man stories ever told (which is especially true for Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4). These games have great attention to detail, they are constantly pushing technology forward, and they have a great understanding of Peter Parker and Miles Morales' characters. However, there's another reason these titles are so fun, and that's the great amount of suits available for players to choose from.
We've seen a fair share of jaw-dropping costumes in Marvel's Spider-Man saga, such as the Superior Spider-Man skin and the classic Classic Black Suit. However, the wall-crawler has had no shortage of different looks across the years, so it's time to take a look at four of them we haven't seen in the video game franchise yet but should take the spotlight in Marvel's Spider-Man 3.
4. Chasm suit
Love him or hate him, Ben Reilly is here to stay. And let's face it: he likes to change his wardrobe just as quickly as he likes to change his image from a hero to a villain. Currently, he adopted a new comic book persona in the form of Chasm. This wasn't a simple name change, though, as his superpowers were upgraded too. His spider-sense can not only detect danger but send energy beams to attack whatever triggered it in the first place. Furthermore, he also got a new look, and the results are nothing short of stunning.
Just imagine swinging through New York's skyline during the night while Chasm's suit emits bright, green energy along the way - it would be simply breathtaking. Besides, this look could also blend really well with Miles Venom's powers, which are also electric-based. And, if we're being honest, Chasm's design is simply beautiful to look at. It's absolutely menacing and has a completely different palette of colors than we've come to expect from any Spider-Men across the multiverse. But that's exactly what would make it stand out among the other 40+ suits in the game.
Come on, Insomniac. You've already added Ben Reilly's iconic Scarlet Spider costume. Why not let the character take a bit more of the spotlight with the Chasm look?
3. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man homemade suit
At the time of writing this, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a bit over two months away from being released. However, even if there isn't a lot of waiting left, we have yet to see a proper trailer for the highly-anticipated animated series. All we have now is a quick five-second teaser used to announce its release date of January 29, 2025. As such, it's a bit difficult to say how good the homemade costume will look in action. However, there's no denying promotional material and still images make it seem like a great new addition to Peter's wardrobe.
Homemade suits aren't the most memorable in the wall-crawler's history (save for Tom Holland's, that is). However, the one in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is unique and playful. Besides, it does seem like something a broke teenager would craft on his own with whatever he had at hand. Insomniac Games should include at least one costume from the animated series in their next project, and what better option to go with than the homemade look?
2. Ultimate Spider-Man suit (2024)
Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) has been recently making headlines for all the right reasons. The comic book series did something the OG saga feared to do for years, which is allowing Peter to grow, get married, and have kids (basically: live a happy life). And as we all know, every great Spider-Man story must also have a great Spider-Man suit, and that's exactly what we have here.
The Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) costume is pretty faithful to the original Spider-Man look back in the 60s. It doesn't have a significant feature that makes it different from other suits (such as a big, white spider logo on the chest). However, that's what makes it so beautiful in the first place. It's classic, instantly recognizable, and simply stunning. Besides, Insomniac Games has been crafting very weird-looking suits recently, so having something familiar wouldn't be so bad.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 introduced the idea of suit variants, which is a change of color for the same look. If that mechanic were to be used in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, then a perfect variant for the red and blue Ultimate Spider-Man costume would be one colored all-black, just like the one we see in the first issues of the comic saga (which is also stunning). All things considered, this one seems like a no-brainer, so fingers crossed it actually makes an appearance!
1. Spectacular Spider-Man suit
Marvel's Spider-Man is a beloved video game saga that tells an epic superhero tale. Similarly, Spectacular Spider-Man is a beloved animated series that also tells a very epic superhero tale. So, suffice it to say, a crossover between these two projects would be nothing short of spectacular, and what better way to do it than with the inclusion of a popular suit?
Players have been asking Insomniac Games for a Spectacular Spider-Man costume for quite some time now, and it's easy to see why. The inclusion of the Spider-Verse look proves an "animated" style can blend really well with the realism the games aim for. Besides, the costume is based on a highly beloved property that got canceled way too soon. So this would be the only way to follow up the adventures of this version of Spidey (at least on our minds).
PC mods have already added the costume to the game (as you can see in the video above), and the results are simply amazing. Now, we only need it to come to consoles too courtesy of Insomniac Games themselves. So no matter what happens in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, the inclusion of this suit is a must.
