It's a great time to be a fan of the old webhead, as multiple Spider-Man projects are coming along really nicely. For starters, Spider-Man 4 may have found a director in the form of Destin Daniel Cretton - a Marvel veteran who helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Furthermore, The Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) comic book run will finally have its titular character face the Sinister Six on September 25. And the cherry on top? Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven The Hunter are just around the corner.

But if all of that isn't enough, then it's time to talk about Nicholas Cage's Spider-Man Noir. Recently, the Amazon and MGM+ series cast Brendan Gleeson in an undisclosed role rumored to be that of the main antagonist (Norman Osborn, maybe?). Now, it looks like production could start soon as evidenced by the latest casting news.

Eight cast members join Spider-Man Noir (and who could they play)

As revealed by Deadline, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott Macarthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, and Amanda Schull have joined the Spider-Man Noir cast. Unfortunately, no details were given about any of their roles, but that doesn't mean we can't put on our detective hats and try to deduce who will they play.

Since very few details have been revealed about the Spider-Man Noir series, we can instead look at its source material for clues. In the 2008 Spider-Man Noir run, The Enforcers played a key role as Norman Osborn's henchmen - so it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume Ox, Fancy Dan, and Montana could appear in the series. After all, they've been pretty recurrent enemies of the wall-crawler in comic book pages, as seen in Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's The Amazing Spider-Man run as well as in the opening arc of Ultimate Spider-Man (2000). So if they were finally to have their live-action debut, then three roles would be up for the taking (Joe Massingill, Lukas Haas, and Cameron Britton perhaps?).

Furthermore, The Vulture, Kraven, and Chameleon all worked closely with Norman Osborn in the 2008 Spider-Man Noir run. Could Scott Macarthur play the role of the World's Greatest Hunter (or a circus performer, in this Noir tale), and Michael Kostroff could bring Adrian Toomes to life? It would be a great possibility. Of course, there's always the chance that any of them play the role of Ben Urich or even Uncle Ben in the form of a flashback as well.

Amanda Schull could be a perfect cast for Felicia Hardy, and Cary Christopher could play the role of a young Peter Parker. Finally, Whitney Rice could portray a young Aunt May while audiences experience a bit of Peter's childhood. Granted, this is all speculation, but chances are Amazon and MGM+ will reveal more news soon.

With all the recent castings, it seems like Spider-Man Noir will begin production in the upcoming months. Unfortunately, no release date has been revealed for the wall-crawler's first live-action series since 1978. But all eyes are on it to deliver a grim take on the friendly neighborhood hero that's filled with mystery and a fresh taking on iconic supervillains.
