Ever since it was revealed that Knull would make his big-screen debut in Venom: The Last Dance, fans have wondered how big of a role he would actually have. The King in Black is a key character in comic book pages with a very rich mythos behind him, so just 1 hour and 50 minutes of runtime wouldn't seem enough to introduce him, have him invade Earth, and then be put down by Eddie Brock once and for all (except with a very rushed and unpolished arc, that is). But even then, comic book legend and Knull creator Donny Cates stepped in to say the movie is "so much bigger, and so much more ambitious than you can imagine (...) And, um….KNULL. Holy ****. That’s how you treat a king".

By the looks of it, Sony's latest project will somehow do the symbiote god justice in such a short time. But how will that be accomplished? Well, thanks to a new report, we finally have a better idea of how much participation The King in Black will have in the movie. Furthermore, it also paints a clearer picture of what Sony is attempting to do with its roster of Spider-Man characters on the big screen... and it's ambitious.

Knull and Venom won't come face to face Venom: The Last Dance

According to superhero insider MyTimeToShineHello, Venom and Knull won't interact in person in Venom: The Last Dance. It might be a bit surprising to hear, considering The King in Black appears to be the main antagonist of the movie. In addition to that, the Lethal Protector franchise is coming to its definite end (as revealed by Tom Hardy) so if they don't meet now, then when could that happen?

For quite some time now, it's been heavily rumored Sony wants Knull to be their equivalent to the MCU's Thanos. An ambitious big-bad who will be built up across different projects and can't be stopped by a single hero or two. In fact, while the Kingpin of crime was supposed to be the main antagonist of the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4, that's no longer the case. The symbiote god took his place, and it seems an "Avengers-level" team consisting of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire's Peter Parkers along with Tom Hardy's Venom will be needed to fight him in the future. But what will happen in just a few weeks with the release of the third Venom movie?

As we've previously speculated, Venom The Last Dance could explain Knull's origins and tell the story of his escape from imprisonment. After all, he's a primordial being, which means he existed before the creation of life as we know it. However, he hasn't had the chance to invade Earth since he's been captive by his own creations; the symbiotes. The movie could end with him finally set free, and starting a crusade to end all life in the multiverse.

It's important to remember that Donny Cates' Venom (2018) introduced the idea of Knull's awakening from the get-go. However, it wasn't until thirty issues later (without counting tie-in series such as Absolute Carnage) that the supervillain finally arrived on Earth. Perhaps Sony is playing the long game too, and will slowly build him up as a true force to be reckoned with before he finally comes face to face with the characters we all know and love, including Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock.
