Venom: The Last Dance runtime reportedly revealed (along with a new TV Spot)

In anticipation of the release of Venom: The Last Dance, it seems we finally know the movie's runtime and it is surprising.

The waiting is almost over. We're less than a month away from watching the epic finale to Venom's live-action saga and Knull's big-screen debut. The journey that started back in 2018 has been leading up to this point, so to build anticipation (and get us all in the mood for some symbiotic action) a new TV spot has been released. Furthermore, it appears we have confirmation of the movie's runtime, which may raise some doubts about its scope.

Venom: The Last Dance will be longer than its predecessor

According to insider Cryptic HD QUALITY, Venom: The Last Dance will have a runtime of 1 hour and 50 minutes. That makes it longer than its predecessor, Let There Be Carnage, which had a duration of 1 hour and 37 minutes. However, it falls just a little short of being the longest movie in the franchise, as Venom (2018) surpasses it by just two minutes.

Interestingly enough, it appears Venom: The Last Dance was going to be much longer. Initial reports indicated the movie would be around 2 hours and 15 to 20 minutes long, with said duration being subject to change. That means we could be looking at 25 to 30 minutes of content that won't make its way into the final cut. It's important to remember it's normal for studios to try and make a movie as short as possible to cram in as many daily screenings as possible. Furthermore, many scenes are always left out in post-production if they hurt the overall pacing. However, even then it's hard to deny the film reportedly lost a lot of content.

While Venom: The Last Dance won't be short, by any means, there's the worry of whether it will have enough time to present a character as big as Knull and make it justice. After all, we know the Lethal Protector will also be going up against Xenophages and another villainous symbiote (possibly Toxin or Lasher). Granted, they will probably act as Knull's agents, but even then they will be on-screen a lot while we get to know them and explore their origins.

It's impossible not to question the King in Black's role in the movie. Will he merely be a supporting character? Is he only being set up for future Spider-Man installments? Unfortunately, there's no way to know just yet. But it seems that, regardless of how big his participation ends up being, Sony is looking to do him justice. Donny Cates, Knull's creator, had the chance to read the script of Venom: The Last Dance and shared very positive comments about it and the first-ever live-action adaptation of his character. So fingers crossed the ruler of the Void steals the spotlight!

Furthermore, a new TV spot for Venom: The Last Dance was also released. While it doesn't feature any groundbreaking reveal, it does give us small glimpses of new footage such as Venom attacking a guard and Mrs. Chen having a conversation with Eddie Brock. Granted, it isn't a whole lot, but we're just weeks away from watching the movie and we couldn't be more excited!

Venom: The Last Dance will be released on October 25, 2024.
