Forget Lasher or Toxin, here's the ideal villain for Venom: The Last Dance

While chances are villains such as Lasher or Toxin could be in Venom: The Last Dance, there's a different choice that would prove to be even greater.

Venom: The Last Dance is the last chapter in Eddie Brock's live-action franchise. As such, expectations are higher than ever for Sony to deliver a fantastic finale that builds upon the two previous entries. While critics have never praised any of the Venom movies released so far, they've greatly entertained fans - making them a success at the box office. And now that everything's coming to an end we need to ask ourselves: Who's worthy of being the Lethal Protector's final adversary?

Recently, we got a glimpse at the film's antagonist courtesy of a new international trailer. Unfortunately, it wasn't confirmed who exactly will it be. Fans were quick to speculate it shares the same color palette as Lasher or that it could be a new take on Toxin. Either way, the question needs to be asked: What could they bring to the table that Carnage and Riot didn't in previous entries? It seems Sony is going the Marvel Cinematic Universe route by featuring antagonists that are just an "evil" version of the protagonist (or a more evil version in Venom's case, considering he's technically a villain). But is that the way to go? Or is there someone else more ideal for this task?

Knull should be the villain in Venom: The Last Dance

Let's kick things off by clarifying that the ideal choice for "antagonist" would be none other than Spider-Man himself. Audiences would be more than happy to see the two clash on the big screen for the first time since the release of Sam Rami's Spider-Man 3; a movie that premiered more than 15 years ago. Rumors suggest Tom Holland's Peter Parker could indeed make an appearance in Venom: The Last Dance. However, we wouldn't hold our breath on it. So instead, let's turn our heads to a terrifying villain that would also make for a perfect choice.

"Eddie, my home has found us" is one of the lines we hear the symbiote say in the official trailer. What if that dialog is referring to the symbiote's creator: Knull? Granted, the chances of that happening would be next to none. However, it would make for an incredibly exciting premise.

Where do you go after someone as menacing and powerful as Carnage? Well, try a literal god. Knull could control an alien army in their mission to take down Eddie Brock. Besides, it would be the perfect chance to explain all symbiotes are connected through a hive mind, one that could even surpass the barriers of the multiverse (explaining why Venom was mistakenly pulled to the MCU during Spider-Man: No Way Home). The Venom symbiote meeting his maker and having to fight him would make for a great closure of his arc. Furthermore, if Eddie Brock were to bite the dust in this final chapter, then it would be better for him to do so at the hands of Knull rather than Lasher or Toxin.

Taking into account Venom lives in a different universe from the MCU, Sony could even end things on a tragic note with Knull ruling over the world and positioning him as a possible threat to the inhabitants of Earth-616 in a future crossover. Once again; it's highly unlikely any of that will happen. But it would make for a great closing chapter nonetheless - one that could prove to be more exciting than Venom fighting a different version of himself for the third time in a row.
