There's been a lot of uncertainty regarding Spider-Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4 is surrounded by secrecy given that the only things we (officially) know are that the movie will start shooting during the summer of 2025 and Destin Delson is set to direct. However, no villains, plot description, or release date have been even teased by Marvel or Sony. In addition to that, audiences' wishes to get news regarding Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man have only been met with silence for a very long time now.

Many expected news about the animated series to start to flood in the closer we got to the end of the year, but that has yet to happen. Many eyebrows have been raised, and fans even began to wonder if we'd even get the Spider-Man project this year as it was originally intended. Well, on the bright side, we may finally have a conclusive answer, but on the bad side... it's not one we wanted to hear.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been reportedly delayed

According to The Cosmic Circus, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been delayed to 2025. It's not a huge surprise, given that the animated series was initially scheduled to be released on November 2, 2024 (which is just ten days away at the time of writing this), and we haven't seen a single trailer yet. Furthermore, we still don't have an official confirmation on the episode count or length, and many of the known details about the project come courtesy of descriptions from people who've seen exclusive Comic-Con footage.

Currently, it's unknown at what point in 2025 we'll see the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. However, D23 Brazil is just around the corner, and it will house an "animation" panel on November 8th where more information could be unveiled. Furthermore, insider Alex Perez, from The Cosmic Circus, has teased that CCXP could see some interesting Spider-Man announcements. So chances are we'll at least hear something before the end of the year.

While it's disappointing to know we have to wait even longer for the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, 2024 still has to see two Spider-Man-related releases in the form of Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven The Hunter. Besides, we'll see the wall-crawler in other media such as the Marvel Rivals video game. They're all different projects in scope, style, and even characters, but hopefully they can fill the void that the Disney+ series has opened.

Originally announced all the way back in 2021, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was supposed to follow the story of how Peter Parker became the wall-crawler in the MCU. However, it's clear a lot has happened behind the scenes, proven by the fact that the idea behind the series has radically changed. Now, it will follow a new and different iteration of the wall-crawler who crosses paths with Daredevil and is indirectly given superpowers by Doctor Strange. It's clear big changes like these are sure to extend production times. Now the only question remaining is: will it be delayed just for a few months and eventually released around the same time as Daredevil: Born Again? Or are we talking about late 2025? Hopefully, it won't be long before we finally figure it out.
