Spider-Man: Freshman Year was announced all the way back in 2021. Back then, it was supposed to follow Peter Parker's story as he became the friendly neighborhood hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - a tale that has yet to be explored on the big screen. However, fast forward three years, and not even the title of that original vision remains. Now the animated series has grown into its own separate story - one where Doctor Strange is responsible for Spider-Man's creation and Norman Osborn takes Tony Stark's place as Peter's mentor. That's how Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was born.

The highly anticipated Disney+ series is set to release on November 2, 2024, and yet we know very little of it. We're still waiting for a trailer (even if attendees at D23 did get to witness one), and no episode count has been officially revealed. Fortunately, that could all change very soon, starting with these new reports that reveal very interesting details about the upcoming Spider-Man project.

A trailer will reportedly be released in October

Talk about way overdue. Fans have patiently waited for a Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man trailer for a long time. Fortunately, those days could be finally coming to an end. According to scooper Marvel Update on X (formerly Twitter), a first look at the series will be released in October.

People who attended D23 say the project has a pretty similar visual style to the Ultimate Spider-Man (2005) video game - all the way to having 3D character models and animations. Furthermore, there was also a montage of many comic book panels appearing on-screen, all telling the story of how Peter becomes the wall-crawler after being bitten by the radioactive spider. And the cherry on top? The main theme appears to be a remix of the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon intro with some modern beats.

It will be interesting to see if the "public" trailer will be the same as the one shown during D23. If history has taught us anything, is that there will be variations. Hopefully, we can get a glimpse at the supervillains in action (something that was absent from the D23 footage), and this might be highly unlikely, but it would be amazing if we could even see just a bit of Daredevil himself. Speaking of which...

Episodes will be around 30 minutes long, and Daredevil will have a big role

It's also reported The Man Without Fear will appear in "several episodes" of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering both characters are closely related in comic book pages. Matt Murdock even entrusts Spider-Man with his secret identity during the first issue of Daredevil (2022). Unfortunately, their friendship hasn't been explored on the big screen, with the two merely crossing paths in Spider-Man: No Way Home for a very brief sequence. However, it seems the small screen will finally fill that void.

Last, but certainly not least, it's also rumored episodes will be around 30 minutes long. It's very similar to the duration of individual episodes in What If...?. Of course, that length is likely to take into account credits as well. However, it seems to be a decent runtime, especially when considering the Spider-Man series will reportedly consist of 10 episodes. Fingers crossed that translates into a lot of entertaining and jaw-dropping content!
