What a year 2024 was for Spider-Man fans. We witnessed the end of Venom's trilogy on the big screen, saw Sony's Spider-Man Universe conclude after the release of Kraven the Hunter, and died a little bit inside when Insomniac Games officially announced Marvel's Spider-Man 2 wouldn't be getting a DLC. On the bright side, we watched the resurgence of The Amazing Spider-Man comic book run and finally learned a little bit more about the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4.
Now that the dust has settled, we have to look at what the future has in store. With 2025 just around the corner, it's time to rank the four most anticipated Spider-Man-related projects. Of course, it's worth remembering things might change in the future and new titles can still be announced for next year. Will the heavily rumored stand-alone Venom game hit shelves in 2025? Will we get a miraculous Beyond the Spider-Verse release in that same time window? Could Marvel create a new comic book series centered around the wall-crawler? Only time will tell. But for now, let's look at what we for sure know it's coming.
4. Eddie Brock: Carnage
The entirety of Al Ewing's Venom (2021) and Venom War (2024) have been leading up to this. After being fatally injured and separated from the Venom symbiote, Eddie Brock went to die at the church where his journey as the Lethal Protector began. It all seemed grim, and there was no escape. However, another wounded creature was also in the same room as Eddie, and that happened to be the Carnage symbiote.
As is the case with symbiotic relationships, both parties need the other one to survive and adapt. Well, that's exactly the story readers will witness in Eddie Brock: Carnage. From long-time enemies to forced associates, it'll be interesting to see how these two characters interact with each other in their own comic book run. At this point, it's very well known that the Carnage symbiote is addicted to killing — it's almost like a necessity. So Eddie will attempt to find the worst of the worst in the form of serial killers to feed them to his new other. But will that be enough? Or will Eddie be corrupted by one of the most dreadful beings in all the Marvel Universe? Well, there's only one way to find out.
Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) #1 will be released on Feb. 12, 2025.
3. A new The Amazing Spider-Man
It's not a secret that Zeb Wells' Spider-Man run has been unanimously hated by everyone who has attempted to read it. I'll be honest here for a second and confess I wasn't able to make it through after issue #30 or so. As if breaking up Peter and Mary Jane wasn't bad enough, we also saw Peter turn evil after inheriting the Green Goblin's sins, the death of Ms. Marvel (though that was technically Kevin Feige's fault), and the wall-crawler's relationship with Black Cat go nowhere. Zeb then retired from the saga and his successor — Joe Kelly — was left in a pretty complicated spot. How could anyone save the series after its bad reputation and just at a time when readers would witness the wall-crawler literally die eight times to save the world? Well, lo and behold, it somehow worked to perfection.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) has undergone a bit of a resurgence act since issue 61 dropped. Joe Kelly and Justina Ireland have done a fantastic job even when writing a pretty controversial story that some people are still not super fond of. Listen, I get it: It's not my favorite thing in the world to watch the friendly neighborhood hero bite the dust over and over again. But if Joe has made this story work, then imagine what he'll do with his very own series.
It was recently announced that The Amazing Spider-Man will be starting a new era with Joe Kelly at the helm. Issue #1 of this new tale will be released in April 2025, and it promises the "classic Spidey storytelling" that we've all wanted to see for quite some time now. So fingers crossed this upcoming new chapter in the wall-crawler's history proves to be way more memorable than the current one.
The Amazing Spider-Man #1 by Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz and John Romita Jr. will be released on April 2025.
2. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
With the recent news that Matt Reeves’ Batman 2 has been delayed to 2027, fans have been complaining a five-year gap between one movie and its follow-up is way too long. I totally agree, and that's why it's disappointing to know the same scenario will also apply to Tom Holland's Spider-Man. While the untitled Spider-Man 4 was announced to be released on Jul. 24, 2026, recent reports indicate fans will have to wait even longer than that. So a five-year gap between No Way Home and the wall-crawler's next adventure is all but confirmed at this point. With that in mind, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is exactly what fans need right now.
The upcoming Disney+ series will feature a stand-alone story that won't connect to any other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. That means it can make use of a perfectly blank canvas without having long-lasting repercussions. It's the perfect chance for Marvel to go all in and tell bold stories that audiences wouldn't normally watch on the big screen. Of course, it's worth keeping in mind this is an origin story — one that has already started and we've learned a lot from. So perhaps we won't get to see storylines such as the death of Spider-Man or The Night that Gwen Stacy Died. But fingers crossed what we get is as equally as memorable.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on Jan. 29, 2025.
1. Spider-Man Noir
It's enough to take a look at the pictures above to know why we're excited about MGM+ and Prime Video's upcoming live-action series. But if that isn't enough, it's worth remembering Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are executive producers of Spider-Man Noir. If those names ring any bell, it's because they were the producers and writers of the highly acclaimed Spider-Verse saga. So if the show is just as half as good as the movies, then we'd be in for a spectacular adventure.
At the time of writing this, not much is known about Spider-Man Noir. For starters: Audiences have yet to see a trailer, and we don't have a confirmation on who'll be the main antagonist. However, it's been reported that The Sandman will have a role to play, and it would be a shocker if The Goblin didn't make an appearance. Besides, the casting of Amanda Schull makes us believe Black Cat could also show up to aid Spider-Man while Michael Kostroff could bring The Vulture to life. Finally, we're all eager to see how Nicholas Cage interprets Peter Parker for the second time after voicing him in the Spider-Verse movies.
All things considered, it seems like Spider-Man Noir is shaping up to be something special and perhaps even the best Spidey project of 2025 as a whole. Fingers crossed that is the case! And while we wait for its (yet unannounced) release date, now's the perfect time to revisit the character's comic book stories.
Spider-Man Noir will be released on 2025.
