Spider-Man 4 is reportedly the biggest Spidey movie of all time (and here's why)
When Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, fans could barely believe all three live-action versions of the wall-crawler came together to fight against the Sinister... Five (I guess). It's incredible to think about how the movie premiered at a time when we all used to stay at home due to the pandemic and it somehow managed to gross nearly two billion dollars throughout its theatrical run. Regardless of the plot holes along the way, the journey definitely lived up to expectations and even surpassed them. At the time, it felt like no other Spider-Man movie ever could be able to top what No Way Home accomplished, but maybe all we had to do was wait nearly five years to be proven wrong.
Spider-Man 4 is reported to be the biggest Spider-Man movie ever
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, the untitled Spider-Man 4 will be "the biggest Spider-Man movie of them all". While no more details were given as to the why, Sony themselves dropped a huge clue in a now-deleted press release that could lead us in the right direction. At this point, it's all but confirmed Tom Holland's Eddie Brock will crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reclaim the piece of the Venom symbiote that was left behind in that Mexican bar, and fight Spider-Man as the one and only Venom.
While the prospect of getting to watch the Lethal Protector and the wall-crawler sharing the screen for the first time in more than 15 years is exciting in itself, it isn't enough to make it the "biggest" Spidey live-action project ever (as Spider-Man 3 did that). However, it's important to note the movie will be released after Avengers: Doomsday, and as such it could take place in Battleworld; an amalgamation of all the different Marvel Universes that have ever existed. With that in mind, there's no shortage of cameos and appearances that could take place in the movie (with one of them reportedly being Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom).
Multiple sources have stated that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's Peter Parkers will be back in Spider-Man 4 to team up with Tom Holland. Furthermore, even if Venom makes an appearance, rumors suggest Knull will be the big bad of the film. Putting all the pieces together, it appears audiences will be in for a multiversal adventure in which The Lethal Protector and three different versions of Spidey will need to come together to fight against the King in Black and his armies of symbiotes.
When Knull finally arrived on Earth in comic book pages, he corrupted multiple Marvel heroes and had them fight for his wicked cause. It wouldn't be all that unlikely for his live-action counterpart to do the same if a full-on invasion is on the cards. And while no reports back up this idea just yet, it has been stated that Star-Lord will make an appearance in the movie. So perhaps there's a scenario where Venomized versions of the Guardians of the Galaxy fight against Tom, Andrew, and Tobey.
On the bright side, it isn't long before shooting for Spider-Man 4 starts and we get official casting news and perhaps even set photos. When that happens, we'll get a better idea of what the wall-crawler will be up to on his next stand-alone adventure. But one thing's for certain: It looks like we might be in for a truly amazing movie.
Spider-Man 4 will be released on Jul. 24, 2026.
