The big plot hole in Spider-Man: No Way Home that no one talks about

There are many inconsistencies and moments that don't make sense in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, there's one big plot hole no one talks about

Spider-Man: No Way Home is undoubtedly one of the most iconic superhero movies ever made. By the time of its release, audiences had already witnessed epic events such as The Avengers coming together on the big screen and even fighting between them in the events of Captain America: Civil War. However, few things could be compared to watching Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all suit up as the wall-crawler. It was a great cinematic experience that still lives rent-free in our minds to this very date, but it wasn't without its flaws. The more you think about the movie, the more plot holes or inconsistencies you can find (such as the fact that Peter didn't save the supervillains from other dimensions). Most of them are widely known by this point, but there's one unexplainable moment that nobody really talks about.

The Avengers didn't help clear up Peter's name

Let's do a bit of a recap and go all the way back to the ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Even after his demise, Mysterio had an ace up his sleeve which consisted of releasing a video framing his own death on Spider-Man, as well as all the murders that resulted from the Stark Combat Drones. This, coupled with a few defamatory words from J. Jonah Jameson, resulted in the whole world turning against Peter Parker. Everyone believed he was a true menace for killing a supposed hero; Quentin Beck. Spider-Man: No Way Home followed that same storyline by turning Peter's life upside down thanks to Mysterio's actions.

Peter, Ned, and M.J.'s applications to MIT were rejected due to the bad reputation of the former. As a result, Peter asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell to make the world forget he's Spider-Man and, well, the rest is history. Since very few knew Peter on a personal level (aside from May, Ned, and Michelle), everyone was quick to assume he could've willingly taken Mysterio out of the picture while bringing destruction to Europe along the way. So the story seems to check out... until you remember the Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, also knew him well enough to help clear up his name.

Unfortunately, Tony Stark, the one man who could've done the most for Peter, had already passed away. But even then, other heroes and important Marvel characters such as Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, Shuri, Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, Hawkeye, Wasp, and Ant-Man fought side to side with Spidey and knew he was a true hero at heart. The latter even knew what it was like to be convicted and put behind bars, so you'd think he'd jump at the chance to help an innocent teenager escape that very same fate. However, they likely just witnessed the news, discovered the wall-crawler was being accused of a crime he didn't commit, and decided to let him handle things on his own. Strange helped just because Peter asked him to, and Happy was also involved in the whole situation as a representative of Stark Industries. But every other well-known hero simply disappeared.

Besides, let's not pretend like a very powerful device such as the Edith glasses Tony left to Peter weren't recording everything that happened 24/7 — easily proving Quentin Beck was the man behind the attacks. After all, the Spider-Man suit Tony made for Peter had extreme security measures such as an always-active tracker as well as a training program blocking advanced features. This is Iron Man we're talking about; he surely programmed a log to record the current owner of Edith and kept that information secured and encrypted somewhere within Stark Industries. There must have been many ways to prove Spidey was innocent, including the verdicts of witnesses. However, the only one who came to the rescue was Matt Murdock, who is normally disconnected from the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But hey, at least we got to witness all three live-action Spider-Men come together on the big screen, so the plot hole was definitely worth it.
