To say Spider-Man is a beloved character would be an understatement. The wall-crawler is highly popular worldwide, and fans are always on the lookout for his next adventure. As a result, we've been eager to learn what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has in store for him moving forward.
It isn't a secret the bar was raised very high after the mind-blowing success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the participation of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in it. So what can Disney do to keep Tom Holland's character in the center of the spotlight? Well, it seems we may finally have an answer. Better yet; it's an exciting one.
Spider-Man could have a big role in Avengers: Doomsday
According to reliable superhero insider, Daniel Richtman, Tom Holland will have a greater role in Avengers: Doomsday than he had in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It's worth remembering that Peter didn't have too much screen time in Earth's Mightiest Heroes' last adventure, especially because... well, he was dust for the majority of the movie's runtime. However, his participation in Infinity War wasn't small by any means. The friendly neighborhood hero entered the scene before the twenty-minute mark and took the fight to Thanos' home planet with the support of Tony Stark and Stephen Strange.
While Spider-Man's role wasn't as protagonistic as that of Iron Man or Thor, it fell short just by a little margin. In fact, he stole the spotlight more than Captain America, without a doubt. So how do you go bigger than that, if not by making him the star of Avengers: Doomsday?
Since Iron Man and Captain America's stories came to an end, fans have wondered who could take their places. After all, the two iconic heroes were the faces of the MCU, and we need someone else to step into their shoes. Fortunately, Spider-Man could easily accomplish that task as he's already a widely beloved character. Furthermore, when Deadpool & Wolverine was released, we couldn't help but wonder who the Anchor Being of Earth-616 is. A name that has been brought up the most by fans when discussing this mystery is Peter Parker - which seems like a very likely possibility.
While nothing is set in stone yet, Marvel could be gearing up to give Spider-Man a very important role moving forward in the MCU. That becomes especially true when considering he could be the one to face Knull as it was recently reported. The King in Black is a very important supervillain - one worthy of being considered an "Avengers-level threat". And if Spidey is the one to fight him, then it would further cement his position as one of Earth's greatest protectors.
But before any of that happens, fans are eagerly anticipating the wall-crawler to swing back into action in Spider-Man 4. Fortunately, we have great news concerning that too. Daniel Richtman also reports there are plans for Tom Holland to film both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man 4 next to each other at the beginning of 2025. That would align with the rumors that the webhead's next stand-alone adventure will be released somewhere in 2026 (potentially in July).
It's best to take all rumors with a grain of salt. However, it wouldn't be shocking to know the wall-crawler is one of the main characters (if not, the main character) of Avengers: Doomsday.
