Tobey Maguire's next Spider-Man appearance confirmed, reports say

There was a time when Tobey Maguire's days as Spider-Man seemed to be over. Even if there could've been more to his story after Spider-Man 3, Andrew Garfield replaced him as the one and only friendly neighborhood hero. To make things more complicated, Tom Holland would later portray the iconic role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, putting the final nail in the coffin of the previous franchises. But just when it seemed like Marvel had moved on from other variants of the character, the multiverse came by.

Fans were excited about the idea of Tobey wearing the mask again. Fortunately, those hopes paid off big time when Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters. But now that the big cinematic experience has come and gone, it's time to look at what the future holds. Have we seen the last of the first Peter Parker on the big screen? Or are there big plans in store for him? Well, according to a new rumor, the answer is the latter, and we couldn't be more excited.

Tobey Maguire could return in Avengers: Secret Wars

According to Scooper Marvel Source on X (formerly Twitter), Tobey Maguire is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the adaptation of one of the biggest multiversal events in comic books could look to recruit many heroes from different realities. Tobey's return seems like a no-brainer, and fortunately, there are chances he won't be the only one returning to the role.

Recently, reports surfaced indicating that Andrew Garfield will also be in Earth's Mightiest Heroes' next movie. Besides, chances are Tom Holland will likely star in the multiversal crossover as well. It would be a smart move from Marvel to capitalize on the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home by reuniting all three versions of the wall-crawler once again.

Granted, it's always important to take all rumors and scoops with a grain of salt until an official source confirms them. However, it's worth pointing out that a new, different report also supports the idea of Tobey making his big return.

Tobey reportedly wants to portray Spider-Man again

Insider Marvel News recently reported that Tobey has expressed interest in returning to the MCU as Peter Parker. This wouldn't seem far-fetched, as the American actor has gone on record to say his participation in Spider-Man: No Way Home reinvigorated his interest in performing. Furthermore, he has said he's open to the idea of showing up as the wall-crawler in another movie, as revealed in an interview for Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home The Official Movie Special.

All signs seem to indicate his comeback is all but confirmed at this point. While initial rumors claimed he could show up as early as Spider-Man 4, it appears we'll have to wait just a little longer until Avengers: Secret Wars releases.
