Concept art shows Venom almost had a white chest logo in Venom: The Last Dance

Three Venom movies came and went and we never witnessed the Lethal Protector sport a white chest logo, but a concept art shows that was almost the case.

Venom: The Last Dance is seemingly the final chapter in the Lethal Protector's story on the big screen. As such, fans expected shocking surprises before the movie was released, such as Spider-Man making an appearance, Anti-Venom making his big-screen debut, or Venom finally sporting a white spider logo on his chest. Unfortunately, none of these ideas came to be, but new concept art shows the latter was at least considered for some time.

Venom: The Last Dance concept art shows the Lethal Protector with a white chest logo

Concept artist Valentin Petrov shared an illustration (which you can see here) that showcases an explosive third act of the movie. In it, we see Venom riding a motorcycle on Area 55 while escaping hordes of Xenophages. Interestingly enough, the Lethal Protector is shown with a white logo on its chest (though it's mostly obscured by his vehicle).

Considering Venom: The Last Dance was the last chapter in Sony's franchise, it isn't surprising to learn its titular character almost had something similar to the iconic white we've come to expect from him. However, this raises an important question: How was he supposed to get it? In comic book pages, it's a remnant from the time the Venom symbiote spent with Spider-Man, who also has a spider logo in his suit. However, Sony's Spider-Man Universe famously lacks a version of the wall-crawler on its own, which would've made this "origin" impossible to achieve on the big screen.

A popular theory is that the logo would've been a visible version of the Codex Eddie and the symbiote carried whenever they turned into Venom. However, if that were to be the case, then audiences should've been able to see it since the events of the first movie, which is where the symbiote revived Eddie. So another possible explanation is that this is one of the (many) effects Knull has on the symbiotes now that he's trying to escape his prison on Klyntar.

In comic book pages, Knull's impending arrival causes the Venom symbiote to behave in very strange ways. It starts talking in an unrecognizable language, while also being more violent when hunting enemies down. These changes were also cosmetic too since Venom was shown with a red spiral logo on his face (which made it look much more terrifying). This idea was, ultimately, unexplored in the movie. But perhaps director Kelly Marcel once envisioned that Knull - who has a big red spider logo on the chest - would've been able to project certain features of itself onto his creations.

It's unfortunate that three different Venom movies came and went and we never once saw the Lethal Protector sport the iconic white spider logo on his chest. Granted, there was no reason for him to do so in the first place, but a nod to his comic book counterpart wouldn't have been so bad. Fortunately, Venom's story is reported to continue in Spider-Man 4, which would be the perfect place for him to earn a comic-book-accurate look.
