The biggest reason we need The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to happen

Chances are Sony Studios will never give us The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but they should for a very specific reason.

More than 12 years ago, audiences witnessed Andrew Garfield take on the role of the friendly neighborhood hero for the very first time. However, just two years after that, his franchise came to a definitive end with the disappointing release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While Andrew's portrayal of Peter Parker was initially met with mixed reactions, fans couldn't help but jump out of their seats in excitement when he made a comeback in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The British actor underwent such an amazing redemption arc that fans even campaigned for a third movie in his stand-alone saga to be released. And while that isn't likely to ever happen, there's one reason it should.

TASM 3 could loosely adapt the events of Ultimate Spider-Man (2024)

Don't you love it when an absolutely fantastic Spider-Man comic book series drops? Well, that's the case for Ultimate Spider-Man (2024). It takes place in an alternate universe where an evil version of Reed Richards made sure no superheroes were ever created, which resulted in Peter not being bitten by a radioactive spider during his teenage years. Instead, he grew up and lived a normal life. Uncle Ben never died, J. Jonah Jameson never became a resentful man, and Peter had two kids with the love of his life: Mary Jane Watson. Everything was very peaceful until Iron Man entered the scene.

Tony Stark figured out Reed Richard was using his world as a playground, and certain people (like Peter) were destined to become superheroes at some point. So determined to undo all the damage that was done, the billionaire got ahold of the radioactive spider that was supposed to make history many years ago and sent it to Pete along with a Picotech suit. At that point, the father of two decides to take a leap of faith and willingly gets bitten by the spider, finally turning into the hero we all know and love.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: How could The Amazing Spider-Man 3 adapt any of these events if Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man is already a renowned hero in his universe and Uncle Ben is dead? Well, I'm not saying we could see a big-screen adaptation of the origin story, but rather of what happens after. After all, it would be amazing if audiences could witness how Peter deals with being a grown man with two kids while also suiting up to save the day.

In Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) we see M.J. fully support his husband in his crusade, even if she's also a bit worried about how dangerous everything is. As a marketing expert, she even comes up with the Spider-Man codename for him to use. Besides, Peter's daughter — May Parker — even finds his father's all-black suit so scary that she suggests adding a bit of red and blue into the mix. We see a little bit of every family member in this version of Spider-Man, and that's something that could allow for an engaging live-action movie.

It's still a long way until Tom Holland's Peter Parker finds himself in a position to be married and with kids. Besides, Tobey's version of the character never tied the knot even if he wanted to propose to M.J. during the events of Spider-Man 3. So Andrew could have the chance to break into this unexplored part of the wall-crawler's life on the big screen. After all, the last time we saw him in a stand-alone movie he lost Gwen Stacy for good. So wouldn't it be wholesome for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to open with him swinging across New York's skyline with his daughter on the back?

Let's not pretend that bearded Andrew Garfield doesn't look like he was born to play the part either way. He might be too old to portray a teenage version of the character on the screen once again, but he'd be perfect for the adult version. It would be fun to see how Peter swings his kids to school after waking up late, or how he takes advantage of his great intelligence to help them with math. Besides, we know Spider-Man villains always target all those closest to him, so the presence of a whole family could allow for some very tense situations too. Finally, it could also pave the way for a very wholesome farewell where Peter saves the day one last time and decides to leave the superhero life behind to focus on his family.

We can only dream.
