Who's the mysterious new host of the Venom symbiote? While we don't have an official answer yet, it's just a matter of waiting a little bit more.

Who's the host behind the All-New Venom? That's the question plaguing the minds of hundreds of comic book fans as they read the Lethal Protector's latest series. Now that Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote officially parted ways, someone else stepped up to take the mantle and save the day. However, their identity still remains a mystery, with four candidates initially being the main suspects: Rick Jones, Robbie Robertson, Madame Masque, and Luke Cage. However, during the events of All-New Venom (2024) #2, Dylan Brock came to the realization that Luke can't be the new Lethal Protector. As simple as that, only three remain.

Initially, some of us suspected writer Al Ewing might've been trying to misdirect riders by saying Luke can't be behind the Venom symbiote and it would eventually be revealed otherwise much later on. However, Marvel recently announced that the big reveal is coming sooner than expected — so perhaps they are, indeed, trying to reduce the list of possible suspects before the big day.

All-New Venom (2024) #5 will reveal who's behind the symbiote

In April 2025, comic book readers worldwide will finally get to uncover who exactly bonded with the Venom symbiote and has been saving the day as a true and honest hero. It's worth remembering that when All-New Venom was initially announced, it advertised the host's mysterious identity as a major plot point. However, only five months after the first issue's release, we're getting a definite answer.

On the one hand, it's great to know the series won't try to extend the mystery more than it needs to. Zeb Well's The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) did the opposite as it asked the question "What happened to Peter Parker?" from the get-go only to revisit that storyline more than 20 issues later. Understandably, fans of the wall-crawler felt the pacing was all over the place and that the mystery was dragged on much more than it was necessary. Now, imagine for a moment that All-New Venom would dare to do the same on a monthly-release basis. Yeah, that's no good either.

On the other hand, I feel like maybe we're getting the answers a little bit faster than we need to. Sure, there's no reason to spend 20 issues asking the same question. But at this pace, the series will basically eliminate one suspect (out of the four) per issue from this point onwards. Furthermore, eliminating one suspect almost from the get-go doesn't make for a very complex or compelling mystery — and we all know Al Ewin is all in for complex storylines.

On the bright side, the saga won't be anywhere near its end when the latest host of the Venom symbiote is finally revealed. At that point, we can even get a bit more character development and the introduction of some proper villains other than a faceless organization. So even if the whole "mystery" aspect of the series doesn't end up being as big as originally believed, readers can still have a memorable time going forward.

All-New Venom (2024) #3 will be released on Feb. 12, 2025.
