Just in the blink of an eye, 2024 is almost gone. It feels just like yesterday when the very first issue of Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) was released on January 10, 2024. Since that day, readers have witnessed many amazing adventures across different series including The Spectacular Spider-Men (2024), Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2022), Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider (2024), and The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) among others. Some runs have had very memorable highs while others have suffered a few underwhelming lows. However, there's no denying we've seen some truly memorable sequences along the way. So now that the year's nearing its end, it's the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane and rank the best Spidey moments on comic book pages.

But before we begin, it's important to clarify a few things. First and foremost; I'll try to be as objective as possible, but there's no denying a lot of it comes down to personal preferences. Some of the moments that we're about to discuss may not be as memorable for others, and that's perfectly fine. You can always let us know your own favorites on our social media pages.

Second, and perhaps most importantly: I haven't read every single Spider-Man-related issue of 2024. While it hurts to say, I still need to catch up on Miles' vampiric adventures and Chasm's potentially diabolical plans. Besides, a few Venom War tie-ins slipped through, and there's also Spider-Boy which... well, hasn't quite picked my interest just yet. So it's worth noting none of these series or numbers will be present in this ranking.

Now that we got the boring part out of the way, let's dive right into the list.

5. Peter and Miles create a support group (TSSM)

Well, this was just wholesome.

Say what you will about The Spectacular Spider-Men (2024), but the series has had some fantastic moments along the way. The first action sequence in which Peter and Miles teamed up to defeat The Jackal was nothing short of exhilarating, and watching Pete hang up the suit to live a simpler life with Gwen and two kids was heartwarming (even if also bitter considering it was all fake). However, the greatest moment in the series so far comes after the destruction of the Arcadium: a huge simulation facility that allowed people to live their deepest desires. Even if everyone survived the destruction of said place, they were all scarred with deep psychological wounds.

How can The Spectacular Spider-Men help when it comes to mental health? Well, it's a bit complicated, so Miles and Peter were the ones who came in to save the day. No costumes, crime-fighting, or web-slinging involved. Just a group of people talking about the beautiful and impossible things they lived, and how badly it hurt when it was all taken away. It's very touching to see Peter and Miles help others in very different ways, and that topics such as mental health get the spotlight in a superhero comic book.

4. Eddie and Dylan finally team-up (Venom War)

Donny Cates' Venom (2018) has many different strengths, but perhaps one of its greatest is the relationship between Eddie Brock and his son, Dylan. We see the Lethal Protector do everything in his power to protect his son and attempt to be a better dad than the one he was raised by. Unfortunately, a lot of their development was instantly undone in Al Ewing's Venom (2021). That's not to say they suddenly didn't care for each other anymore. However, the two spent a lot of time apart and even came face to face to see who would bond with the Venom symbiote. That's why it was nice to see them act as a team once again in Venom War (2024) #4.

Eddie and Dylan fight inside the ring against Bedlam — who is an evil, future version of Eddie. The father and son, powered by the same symbiote, perfectly sync up to defeat their foe. It's a moment that heavily reminded me of that time Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers teamed up to go up against Iron Man during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Is it a brief fight? Sure, but one that also stood up in the middle of a series filled with cage matches. So that's saying something.

3. May Parker designs her dad's costume (USM)

We can't create a ranking of the best Spider-Man moments on comic book pages and not include Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man. It's an amazing human story where the superhero spectacle comes second to character development. That means supporting characters have all had their chance to shine, and there's no better example than when May Parker found her dad's super suit so scary she helped him with a redesign.

After being bitten by a radioactive spider, a grown-up Peter wears a Picotech Suit to save the day (a grave decision that may cost him in the future). At first, the costume was completely black save for the iconic white lenses. However, May instructs his father to try out different combinations of colors and styles until they eventually land on the iconic red and blue look we all know and love. The cherry on top? The two then swing across the city to showcase Peter's new suit. It's a wholesome moment that clearly states there's a bit of Peter's family in this version of Spider-Man, and we can't get enough of interactions like these.

2. Spidey uses theoretical physics to master magic (TASM)

Zeb Well's The Amazing Spider-Man was unanimously deemed one of the worst chapters in the wall-crawler's history. It was a very tough spot to get out of, especially after it was announced readers would head into the eight deaths of Spider-Man — an arc where the wall-crawler would need to master magic while, quite literally, dying multiple times in the process. However, Joe Kelly and Justina Ireland happily took over that task and excelled at it.

In one of Spidey's first confrontations as Earth's Champion, he uses his wits to make the best use possible of his newfound magical abilities. Even if it was easy for writers to over-rely too much on Peter's magic to get him out of any dangerous situation, they still found a way to make him act like the lovable nerd we all know and love. Peter realizes he can test the theory that states he can continuously traverse in one direction and, after an infinite amount of time, he'd eventually return to the same place. Using this principle, the wall-crawler is able to defeat his very first Scion Cyttorak in what has been one of the best moments The Amazing Spider-Man has seen in a while.

1. "Isn't it obvious? You're Spider-Man" (USM)

Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) is widely considered the best ongoing Spidey series, meaning it's filled with no shortage of epic, heartfelt, and wholesome moments. However, the very best sequence of the run (so far) comes when Peter's family finally discovers he's the new masked vigilante who's been appearing in the news. If you've seen other superhero tales, you know these types of situations tend to end badly for the hero — as their significant other often gets mad for endangering all their lives. However, the story is a bit different here as Peter's two kids and his wife all support him in his mission to save the world.

Mary Jane is a bit worried Peter doesn't have a codename when wearing the red and blue suit. It is then that the superpowered hero asks her to come up with a title, and readers are treated to two amazing panels. The first one sees M.J.'s hand (with an engagement ring on one of the fingers, mind you) on top of the wall-crawler's chest symbol while she says the words: "Oh, Peter. Isn't it obvious?". Then we see the two of them swing across New York's skyline in the afternoon with a text in front reading "You're Spider-Man".

Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) is a special series from the get-go, but that moment between Peter and M.J. the one that let us know this run was one for the history books. Besides, those panels were enough to erase the bad taste in the mouth that The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) caused when Peter and M.J. were separated yet again. I might have not read every single Spider-Man-related comic book issue of the year, but I know without a doubt this moment was the best out of every single series. It's heartfelt, joyful, and iconic. Besides, we got to experience the birth of the iconic hero in a way we've never seen before, and that's saying something.
