These stunning Funko Pop! highlight iconic Spider-Man variants
We've seen some pretty amazing Spider-Man Funko Pop! recently; from the second wave of figures inspired by Marvel's Spider-Man 2 to a breathtaking collectible that captures the essence of Stan Lee's 1962 comic book run. Most of them immortalize Peter Parker and Miles Morales themselves - the two most popular and iconic versions of the friendly neighborhood hero. However, that's not to say there aren't other Spidey variants deserving of the spotlight as well. This time, two new releases celebrate other iconic characters to take on the arachnid persona, and they are nothing short of stunning.
Miguel O'Hara as you've never seen him before
Funko Pop! Comic Covers are jaw-dropping figures accompanied by an important comic book image of the character's history. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that the cover of Spider-Man 2099 (1992) #1 is bundled with this amazing Miguel O'Hara figure. After all, it's the first comic book series completely dedicated to this futuristic version of the wall-crawler.
Spider-Man 2099 has been one of the most iconic variants of the web-slinger ever created. Audiences recently saw him as an antagonistic figure in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and it would be a shocker for any Spider-Man game not to include a skin of this iconic character. Much like Peter Parker, he has the strength and agility of a spider. However, there are a few other powers exclusive to his own, such as enhanced vision and the ability to secrete venom through his fangs.
While we've seen other Funko Pop! figures of Spider-Man 2099, none of them included a comic book cover. So it's a plus that makes it worthy of being in any Spider-Man collection, without a doubt.
Ben Reilly swings into action
Clone stories are not the most well-received on comic book pages. However, it's impossible to deny that, thanks to one of them, we've seen one of the greatest Spider-Man suits ever created. It's easy to recognize the Scarlet Spider thanks to its blue hoodie and all-red costume. Ben Reilly designed a look that not even Peter Parker himself is able to top, and that's saying something.
The Scarlet Spider is one of the most controversial Spider-Men ever created. Is he a hero? Or a full-blown supervillain? Well, he's been on both sides of the scale multiple times before that's impossible to say with certainty. Recently he even took on the Chasm persona and attempted to invade New York with an army of demons straight from the Limbo. But, hey, at least he had a new good-looking purple suit (which also has a Funko Pop! figure) and an interesting new power in the form of an "offensive spider-sense".
Love him or hate him, Ben Reilly is here to stay. So, we might as well add this new figure to our collection while we ask Marvel to turn him into a superhero once again.
