Let's rewind time back to the year 2000. Marvel decided to create a brand new universe where they could re-imagine some of their most beloved heroes and villains in the modern day and age. It was a bold experiment that — let's be honest — didn't gather the critical acclaim that many would've hoped. However, there was one specific saga that resonated with comic book fans, and that was Ultimate Spider-Man (2000).
At its core, Peter was the same teenager hunted by bad luck and the responsibility to save others with his superpowers. However, other characters underwent major yet welcome changes. One was the case of the Venom symbiote, which was envisioned as a suit to cure cancer instead of a parasitic alien (to name one example). These types of tweaks allowed for a phenomenal comic book run which also stood out for its unique visuals. After all, It's impossible not to recognize the Ultimate Spider-Man suit from a mile away thanks to its distinctive style. So it's only natural fans have wondered if such an iconic design would still work in the real world, and we're finally able to figure it out thanks to a mind-blowing 3D render.
A realistic USM suit looks good, but not as much as the original
Thanks to 3D artist Agro via X (formerly Twitter), we have a better idea of what an Ultimate Spider-Man suit could look like in real life. Of course, the most distinctive and unique feature comes courtesy of the wide lenses. Let's face it: no other suit does them like the Ultimate. However, other details immediately stand out as well such as the minimalistic spider logo and the big, gray web-shooters. On a personal note, I still think the comic book version looks better just because of its unique comic graphics. However, the realistic version doesn't look bad either.
Just when it seemed the 3D model couldn't look any better, it was modded into the Marvel's Spider-Man game to even better results. Granted, it is disappointing that two different titles in the saga have gone by where Peter is a playable character and hasn't had an official Ultimate suit. But while we wait for that day to come (potentially in a third installment), unofficial fan content works just as fine. Granted, if you have a PlayStation console then it won't be possible to swing around New York Skyline while wearing this iconic costume. But if you're a PC user, then you're ready to go.
It's been such a long time since the Ultimate Spider-Man saga ended that it was recently replaced by a newer series with the same name and just as positive results (if not better). Similarly, another 3D art by Agro also displays what Spidey's picotech suit from Earth-6160 would look like in a live-action adaptation or a videogame. So at this point, it's fair to say Insomniac needs to take into account any version of the Ultimate Universe when picking which costumes will make it into their upcoming games.
