These Spider-Man movies will leave Netflix soon
Ever since Spider-Man 1 was released back in 2002, there has been no shortage of Spidey stories on the big screen. Sam Raimi's trilogy was responsible for redefining the superhero genre and increasing the character's popularity even when that seemed impossible. During three movies, audiences watched Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker save the citizens of New York City, battle iconic villains, and attempt to have a relationship with M.J. against many odds. However, his time as the friendly neighborhood hero came to an end, and another one took his place.
Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man saga was short-lived (and not very critically acclaimed) but it had amazing moments scattered throughout. Gwen's death was one of the absolute highlights, faithfully adapting a crucial moment in the superhero's life while giving its own location twist. Besides, the VFX shots in The Amazing Spider-Man saga have been some of the best the wall-crawler has seen to date, and its performances were nothing short of amazing.
Even if neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield are the current live-action Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, their franchises are a huge part of superhero history. So it's unfortunate that their days are counted (on Netflix, at least).
Sam Raimi's and Marc Webb's Spidey movies will leave Netflix soon
August 31, 2024, will mark the last day viewers can stream Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Netflix. In September, these iconic movies will leave the streaming giant. That's unfortunate for all fans of the wall-crawler looking to do a re-watch or get some (needed) backstory before heading into Spider-Man: No Way Home. So if you want to do either of those two options on Netflix, there's very little time left.
Fortunately, not everything is grim, as there are other ways to watch these five movies. Currently, they are all available for streaming on Disney+. You can see Tobey's good-natured take on the superhero here. Additionally, you can also shake things up a bit and experience the grittiness and darkness of Andrew Garflied's saga here.
