One of the advantages of being a fan of Spider-Man is that there will never be a shortage of spectacular merchandise to collect. Fortunately, this time is no different, as two new stunning figures were recently announced, and they celebrate the character's legacy across different media. One is a highly detailed and realistic depiction of one of the most unique live-action movies featuring the web-slinger, and the other makes us relive our childhood by taking inspiration from an iconic animated series. So let's take a look at them, shall we?
The Amazing Spider-Man swings into scene (with a lot of detail)
While The Amazing Spider-Man franchise hasn't been the most beloved live-action superhero saga, Andrew Garfield's portrayal of the wall-crawler was one for the history books. He showcased a bit of Peter Parker's rebelliousness that was present in the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko era of the character while pouring his heart in every scene he was in. Now, courtesy of Hot Toys, there will be a new 1/6th scale figure of this iconic take on Spider-Man.
As you can expect from Hot Toys, it's a highly detailed figure that aims to include photorealistic features. Furthermore, it includes many accessories that fans will instantly recognize from the Marc Webb movies, such as a skateboard, a camera along with its strip, and a high-school backpack. A figure stand will also be included, and according to the product's official description it will even have rolling eyeballs:
" features a newly developed Peter Parker head sculpt with separate rolling eyeballs, a masked head sculpt; an exceptionally tailored red and blue suit with web pattern, embodied by a newly developed specialized body with enhanced articulation"
It's clear there was great attention to detail when designing this collectible, as Spider-Man's shoe soles and suit's texture are almost identical to its live-action counterpart. However, the one nitpick I have has to be the mask. There's something a bit off about the placement of the lenses which prevents it from fully resembling the one seen in the movies. Aside from that, Hot Toys did a really great job, and we can't wait to learn more about the launch of this amazing figure.
A stunning Spider-Man: The Animated Series figure is here
Talk about a classic.
Keeping on the theme of 1/6 action figures, we need to talk about Mondo's latest Spider-Man collectible. It depicts the wall-crawler as seen in his 1994 animated series, and the results are breathtaking. On a personal note, my favorite part is the ability to put Peter Parker's head on it, as it perfectly brings this iconic character back to life. However, there are many other accessories too, such as multiple web attachments, 6 pairs of hands with different poses, a camera, Spider-Man's head sculpt, and a separate mask.
However, there's a limited edition of the figure that includes four extra accessories in the form of a classic Spider-Man head, the Green Goblin's mask, a web shooter hand with short webs, and a piece of the symbiote.
The regular edition of the collectible will have a price of USD 220, and the limited edition will cost USD 240. As for the latter, it's worth noting there will only be 1500 units, so if you want to get your hands on one, it would be better to pre-order now. Shipping is estimated to take place in December, so we're just a few months away from feeling nostalgic about our childhood courtesy of this figure.
