After three live-action iterations of Peter Parker, audiences could watch a new hero save the day in the form of Spider-Woman (but there's a major twist)

Up until this point, we've seen three live-action versions of the wall-crawler on the big screen and they all share being variants of Peter Parker. Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire have been fantastic at bringing such a beloved character to life, each with their own strengths and unique traits. However, fans have long awaited to see someone else take on the role, with Miles being the ideal candidate for such an enormous task. But if a new rumor is to be believed, it seems someone else might beat him in the race... and it's not who you're expecting.

Sadie Sink is in reportedly in talks to play Mayday Parker

According to insider Marvel Leaks via X (formerly Twitter), Sadie Sinks was in talks with Sony and Marvel to play the role of "Spider-Woman" on the big screen. However, there's a big twist in that her character would be the daughter of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane. Now, I hate to be that guy, but that would mean Sadie wouldn't technically be "Spider-Woman" but Spider-Girl instead. Name technicalities aside, the implications of Mayday Parker swinging into action would be huge.

Even if Spider-Man: No Way Home featured the return of Tobey's iconic version of the wall-crawler, audiences didn't get to learn much about what happened to him after Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. Writer Chris McKenna revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter such a decision came in part due to the actor's wishes:

"Tobey wanted to be very minimal about how much you know. Very, very minimal (...) Tobey especially has come through that darkness. We thought it was cool that Andrew’s Peter was still in the midst of that darkness"

Fans were quick to speculate maybe Tobey didn't want No Way Home to drop a lot of exposition on his character's past so that it could be explored in a different movie. While that theory hasn't been confirmed, the potential is certainly there for another project to fill in the gaps (especially if Mayday enters the picture).

If Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) has proved anything is that stories in which Peter Parker is a family man can definitely be a hit with fans. So why not take advantage of that unexplored area on the big screen and let us see what our childhood hero has been up to? Him teaching his daughter how to properly use her powers would be nothing short of amazing. Besides, Sadie Sink would be a perfect fit for the role.

With the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also came the big-screen debut of Mayday Parker. However, she was one year tops when the whole incident with Miguel O'Hara and The Spot occurred. Unfortunately, that means fans couldn't see much of her or learn about who she really is. So the idea for a live-action project to rectify that is interesting, to say the least.
