When you think about iconic Spider-Man villains, chances are the Green Goblin, Venom, Doctor Octopus, The Lizard, and Kraven are some of the first to come to mind. However, out of all of them, there's only one who has yet to make his big-screen debut. Weirdly enough, the world's greatest hunter has been notably absent from any live-action Spider-Man project even when three different generations of the hero have made it to the big screen. However, that's all about to change very soon.

Kraven the Hunter is the next installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. After a losing streak of projects that includes Morbius and Madame Web, all eyes are on Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Sergei Kravinoff to finally take the franchise in the right direction. So in order to build excitement for Sony's next release, a new trailer was dropped and it is as bloody as you'd expect.

New Kraven the Hunter trailer is here and it's very R-rated

What's better than watching one iconic Spider-Man villain on the big screen? Getting to see three of them share the screen, of course. The new trailer also gives us new looks at Alessandro Nivola's Rhino and Fred Hechinger's Chameleon. While we had seen little glimpses and teases of them in the previous trailer, the cat is fully out of the bag now.

The Rhino is a huge, gray monster, unlike The Amazing Spider-Man 2 version of the character that took inspiration from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book run to portray him as a man in a robot suit. Spider-Man fans will undoubtedly be happy about this switch-up especially since the design is pretty faithful to his comic book counterpart (going all the way to include the two big horns on his forehead). This version of Rhino is seen just moments before the trailer ends, and while he isn't too long on-scene it gives fans a better idea of what to expect from him.

As for the Chamelion, there is bittersweet news. While Dmitri Smerdyakov is in the trailer, it's still unknown if he'll turn into the master of disguise at some point or how he'll do it. Perhaps Sony is looking to build up anticipation and save as many surprises for when the movie finally releases - which is good. But as of now, the mystery will linger a little longer.

Much like the previous trailer, audiences get to see many violent and bloody action sequences. After the success of other R-rated sagas such as Fox's and Disney's Deadpool, Sony isn't holding back in the slightest. This will mark a big switch-up from Mourbius, Madame Web, and Venom. Besides it's also uncharted territory for live-action Spider-Man projects, but one that will hopefully play in favor of its titular character and story to make the movie better. Kraven the Hunter is one of the most relentless Spidey villains ever, so it makes sense for him to be the one to finally break the mold.

While there are still many doubts in people's minds about Kraven the Hunter (especially after Madame Web), all signs seem to indicate this Sony movie could be a step up from its predecessors. Trailers are crude and violent, Aaron Taylor-Johnson seems perfect for the role, and director J. C. Chandor went the extra mile to ensure the script would be as polished as possible. So could the Sony curse finally be broken? Well, there's only one way to find out.

Kraven The Hunter premieres in theaters on December 13, 2024
