Here is our first look at the new Spider-Man rides coming to Disneyland parks
D23 has been a real delight for Marvel fans so far. We learned new details regarding the highly-anticipated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man while also getting our first look at a few MCU projects such as Agatha All Along. But Disney didn't surprise us only with movie and series announcements, as they also revealed new rides coming to their parks. Better yet; some of them are sure to make Spidey fans excited!
Currently, there are two Spider-Man-themed rides open to the public. The first one is The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attraction, located at Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. This is considered by many the ultimate experience when it comes to superhero rides and with good reason. It takes visitors on a thrill-inducing journey filled with some of Spidey's most iconic villains and an exhilarating moment where audiences seem to free-fall only to be saved by the wall-crawler in the last second. There also used to be another version of the attraction in Universal Studios Japan, but it was closed in January 2024.
The second, and most recent Spider-Man ride, is WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure located at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. It's an interactive attraction where guests get to feel what it's like to use web shooters and use them to catch rogue Spider Bots that are causing problems in The Avengers Campus. While it's an interesting concept, it has failed to gather great levels of critical acclaim. So now Disney is looking to step up their game with two brand new Spider-rides.
A new Tower Of Terror-like attraction?
The first new attraction will be coming to Disneyland Hong Kong. While an opening date wasn't revealed, we got a concept art that gives us a better idea of what to expect.
It seems like a Tower of Terror-like ride where Spidey attempts to rescue guests by pulling their vehicle up with his webs, while Doctor Octopus is trying to take them down (literally). Besides, it would appear as if the whole sequence takes place inside The Avengers Tower, as evidenced by the big Avengers logo in the concept art. It would be a great and immersive setup that could also allow for many easter eggs from different Marvel heroes.
The Spidey-coaster is here
The second attraction revealed is a brand new Spider-Man-inspired roller coaster. It appears audiences will be on a container port of sorts when things spiral out of control. At that moment, it will be up to the wall-crawler to craft a safe path for visitors to navigate through. You can see the concept art below:
While there wasn't an announcement regarding an American version of these rides, we can assume they will eventually be coming. After all, Disney's strategy often time consists of opening these attractions overseas and then bringing them to the U.S. When that announcement eventually happens, we'll be sure to break it down here in Whatever A Spider Can! So make sure to stick around for everything Spider-Man-related!
