Venom: The Last Dance is the final chapter in the Lethal Protector saga on the big screen. As such, audiences are waiting to see what twists and turns await when the movie is finally released. Sony could aim to close the franchise with a bang by surprising fans in ways very few could see coming. Better yet; one of those shocking moments may have sneakily made its way into the official trailer.

Remember the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scene where Eddie is transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and catches up about current events with a bartender? Well, that same bartender - portrayed by actor Cristóbal Fernández - appears in the Venom: The Last Dance trailer at what would seem to be the same location. However, there's a twist this time around: other characters from the Venom franchise are also there. That shouldn't be possible at all... right? After all, Eddie Brock lives on Earth-688 - a universe completely different from Earth-616 in which the MCU takes place. We even watched how Venom was transported back to his home once Doctor Strange's spell was undone.

It's a bit of a tangled narrative, I know. But long story short: Venom The Last Dance shouldn't be able to show us events taking place in the MCU if Venom isn't there anymore. Many fans even think that Sony is purposefully trying to mislead audiences into believing the upcoming Lethal Protector movie has more to it than meets the eye - such as they did with Morbius. Yes, there's a chance that winds up being the case. However, a new rumor could shed some light as to what's really going on.

Venom The Last Dance could partially take place in the MCU

According to Marvel Updates on X (formerly Twitter), the start of Venom: The Last Dance could take place in the MCU. If that is truly the case, then it would explain why we'll see Cristóbal Fernández' character again in that same bar with the symbiote's leftover after Eddie is gone. However, it would also open another whole can of worms since Chiwetel Ejiofor's character is also present there, even when he portrayed Mordo in the MCU.

Rumor has it that Chiwetel's character in Venom: The Last Dance is Orwell Taylor. So how did Orwell end up in that bar on the MCU? Did he travel there in his chase for a fragment of the symbiote? Or is it that the Mordo audiences see in Doctor Strange has always been from a different universe and his Earth-616 variant is portrayed by another actor? Yeah, there's still a lot that doesn't seem to make sense.

On the bright side, this latest rumor could also explain another report that has been making rounds online. Apparently, Tom Holland's Spider-Man will make a surprise appearance in the Lethal Protector's upcoming project. So if the movie's opening takes place in the MCU then it would be the perfect chance for audiences to get a glimpse at the friendly neighborhood hero. Otherwise, his presence in the film wouldn't make much sense either.

There's much we don't know about the closing chapter in the Venom saga. As such, it's important to take all these rumors and reports with a grain of salt. But the prospect of the movie taking place in the MCU ever so slightly is exciting, to say the least, as it would open the door to many different possibilities.
