D23 Brasil came and went in a heartbeat, but not before leaving us with some exciting announcements. Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* had new trailers released, while plenty of details about What If...? were also unveiled. However, that doesn't mean we got every single thing we wanted. New looks for Daredevil: Born Again and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man failed to be released online, even if the series are just around the corner.
It was disappointing to learn the wall-crawler had almost no online presence during the event. But on the bright side, there was one saving grace in the form of an unexpected (yet very welcome) statement from the man himself.
Kevin Feige says Miles could join the MCU after the release of Beyond the Spider-Verse
In an interview with Omelete, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked about the prospect of Miles Morales finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
"Miles will appear in the third Spider-Verse, which is in production. I hope that shortly after that he can enter the MCU in live-action."Kevin Feige
Unfortunately, saying Miles could join shortly after the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse isn't too much of a giveaway of when exactly it could happen. The animated movie was originally slated to be released in March 2024, until it was indefinitely delayed. Producer Christopher Miller has stated "The reels are coming along nicely", so maybe there's a small chance we get to see Beyond the Spider-Verse before Spider-Man 4.
Timing is important to the character's origin story. If Marvel introduces Miles before the Multiverse Phase ends, he could come from an alternate dimension just like in comic book pages. Audiences could even get to see him aid Earth's Mightiest Heroes during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, which would be nothing short of amazing. However, the most likely scenario is his story will take the spotlight afterward. After all, his uncle, Aaron Davis, already made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so Miles doesn't need to come from another reality.
Interestingly enough, Kevin hasn't been the only one to express interest in Miles Morales sharing the screen with other iconic Marvel Heroes. Tom Holland has talked about how he'd like to be a mentor to the actor portraying Miles in live-action, just as Robert Downey Jr. was a mentor to him. All things considered, it appears there have been internal discussions about the future of the character. So it may not be a matter of if it happens or not, but rather when that will come to be.
Maybe the original Spider-Man still needs a bit more character development before he can properly coach another hero. But if Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for PS5 has taught us anything, is that a well-balanced relationship between Peter and Miles can definitely steal the spotlight. So fingers crossed it isn't long before we witness that storyline in the MCU.
