Spider-Man 4 and Beyond the Spider-Verse are rumored to be a long way off
Unfortunately, it appears the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4 could suffer from a delay according to new reports. Marvel and Sony originally announced Tom Holland's next stand-alone MCU adventure would be released on Jul. 24, 2026. However, it appears that no longer is the case as we might be looking at a five-year gap minimum between No Way Home and its upcoming follow-up. The reasoning behind the delay is Marvel and Sony want Spider-Man 4 to be even better than its predecessor, which is great! Unfortunately, they are facing script issues and this extra time will be used to ensure Spidey gets the best story possible.
If you ask me, I think it's the right move. If Sony felt confident enough to green-lit the script for Madame Web and they're not feeling secure about the script of Spider-Man 4, then they should rework it by all means. We can wait, and meanwhile, we'll have other amazing Spider-Man-related projects to look out for such as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Noir, Avengers: Doomsday (where Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker), and, of course, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Speaking of which...
The upcoming Spider-Verse movie was recently confirmed not to be released in 2025. While we all saw it coming from a mile(s) away, it's disappointing to know we'll have to wait even longer. On the bright side, this delay is also for a very good reason. Sony is putting "a lot of tender loving care" into the movie, and they don't want to rush the end product. It's the right move considering over 100 artists quit mid-production on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse due to unsustainable conditions like working 11 hours a day, seven days a week. Now we can have an amazing cinematic experience without it coming at the expense of the animators' health.
