Didn’t Marvel already say the new Spider-Man would be Peter Parker?

Whilst most of the world was trying to decide whether or not that dress was black and blue or white and gold, Spider-Fans were still debating who will be the newest cinematic Spider-Man, will it be Peter Parker or Miles Morales, and will they be white or black, the speculation has seemed endless.
But a new train of thought as emerged online recently that suggests that all of this speculation has not only been pointless, but completely futile because Marvel have already told us exactly who will be the new Spider-Man for their cinematic universe. And they did so right at the very start!
In the original press release announcing that Spider-Man was coming home in fact! Here’s a paragraph from the press release
"“Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together,” said Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. “This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future.”"
So there you go folks it’s cut and dry isn’t it? It’s obviously going to be Peter Parker underneath the mask for Marvel’s Spider-Man film. I mean it’s right there in black and white! Although that comment was from Sony president Doug Belgrad, so perhaps it just means that he thought it would be Peter Parker and Marvel might have other ideas?
Although providing that Marvel and Sony are on the same page, and won’t at some point change their mind and go for a more diverse option, or fresh character it’s unlikely that they’d announce Peter Parker and give people something else. Saying that, I’ve also learnt not to take press releases too seriously because as we all know plans change!
