Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be first Spidey video game released in Japan for seven years

Beenox’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been out in the UK and US for quite some time now, but news has just broken that the lovely folks in Japan are set to get the game released over there fairly soon. However this is more news-worthy than it outwardly appears for several reasons. First of all this is reportedly the first Spidey video game to get released in Japan since Spider-Man 3, which was  a whopping three years ago.

And secondly you’ll only be able to get the game in Japan for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. That’s right folks Amazing Spider-Man 2 is completely skipping the Xbox entirely. I imagine this is something to do with the same thing that caused the US and UK releases of the game to temporarily cancel its release on the Xbox One.

The game will be published by Square Enix, and will be available from September 4 with English voiceovers and Japanese subtitles.
