Daily Bugle hints at the appearance of Vulture as well as Hydro-Man and Spider-Slayers

We know that we’re getting Electro in Amazing Spider-Man 2, that’s been common and obvious knowledge for quite some time, and I for one cannot wait to see Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon in action as he clashes with Spidey in the upcoming film. But one can’t help but look at other popular Spidey villains and wonder when we’ll be seeing them on the big-screen for the first time.

We already know that we’ll get a prolonged glimpse at Rhino played by Paul Giamatti and that Norman Osborn seems to be on his way to being the true Green Goblin. The Sinister Six has also been hinted in various trailers for the upcoming film with The Vulture harness and the Dr. Octopus arms being shown.

We also know that BJ Novak will be playing Alistair Smythe in another small role in Amazing Spider-Man 2, Smythe is the creator of the Spider Slayers, robots designed to hunt and kill Spider-Man and he himself eventually becomes Spider-Man villain The Ultimate Spider Slayer.

But who else might we get a glimpse of in Amazing Spider-Man 2 or in future films? Well the Daily Bugle seems content to hint at several new big-bads for Spidey in their article ‘Oscorp Biz Holds Steady’. This article hints at several villains appearing, whilst also dropping hints for now confirmed villains like Smythe.

"Oscorp spokesman Donald Menken provided some details from the meeting, including that the construction on the prototype alternative energy power plant, complete with hydroelectric tower, is on schedule for completion within the next year."

This looks like the giant power plant we see Spider-Man and Electro clashing in the trailer, however the interesting thing here is the mention of ‘hydro-electric’. Whilst not canonical this could be a reference to the impending creation of Hydro-man who was originally created by falling off of a boat whilst a powerful experimental generator is being tested in the ocean

"Other highlights included a preview of a flight harness for the military and significant advancements in robotics by the head of the engineering division, Spencer Smythe."

This flight harness is obviously a reference to villain the Vulture, and we’ve even seen these wings in one of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailers next to Dr. Octopus’ arms. We’re then treated to a reference to BJ Novak’s character’s father Spencer Smythe who originally made the Spider Slayers before being succeeded by his son.

So, could we be getting Hydro-Man, Vulture or the Ultimate Spider Slayer soon?
