Have the trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 given too much away?

There has been a big of negativity towards the Amazing Spider-Man sequel because there appears to be too many villains, which is the exact same reason that Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 is so critically lamented, after all too many cooks spoil the broth. It also turns out that too many spoilery scenes in trailers spoil the suspense as well!

Yes, we’ve seen several trailers for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ now and I have to agree with the dissenter’s that are saying they’ve seen too much of the film already, at least on the surface of it anyway. It seems like every major scene and action piece that will be in the movie has been shown in the trailers, so why should anyone go and watch the movie?

Well, someone with a lot of time on their hands over at Unleashthefanboy.com has actually looked through all of the trailers for the film and documented exactly how much footage from the film we’ve actually seen by painstakingly going through every trailer and pausing it when they saw something new.

After his extensive research Louis Rabinowitz concluded that so far the trailers have given us around 6 minutes of original new footage. That’s it. So it turns out we still have a lot of film to see probably around 2 hours more! So why on earth are people complaining that they feel like they’ve seen too much?

Well, the trailers seem to have revealed everything that could’ve been kept secret. We’ve seen all of the rumoured villains, the Green Goblin played by Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamati’s Mecha-Rhino and lots of Jamie Foxx’s Electro. We’ve also seen evidence towards the rumours that a major character might die with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker lamenting to someone in the latest trailer “What if something happens to you because of me?”. Subtle Sony, Subtle.

Do you think the trailers for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ trailer have given too much away?
